Bekerja Produktif


   

Jam kerja yang ditetapkan kantor setiap hari sebenarnya sudah cukup panjang, namun seringkali tak cukup untuk menyelesaikan semua pekerjaan. Akibatnya, Anda sering bekerja overtimedan sampai di rumah larut malam.

Hal ini bisa jadi disebabkan faktor eksternal pemecah konsentrasi, namun kadangkala justru disebabkan pengelolaan waktu Anda yang kurang efektif. Idealnya hal-hal kecil yang mengalihkan fokus Anda dari pekerjaan bisa ditepis oleh diri sendiri. Kenyataannya, disadari atau tidak, justru Anda yang mencari selingan ketika mulai jenuh bekerja.

Apa saja yang biasanya menjadi faktor pengalih perhatian di kantor dan bagaimana menyiasatinya? Simak tujuh contoh berikut.

Tersasar ketika berselancar 
Banyak pekerjaan yang membutuhkan jasa internet untuk menyelesaikannya. Jika demikian, maka berjalan dari satu situs ke situs lainnya menjadi bagian dari rutinitas Anda. Yang sering terjadi dan sulit dihindari adalah kecenderungan untuk menekan tautan dalam sebuah situs yang tidak ada hubungannya dengan pekerjaan.

Untuk gangguan semacam ini, Anda dapat menyisakan waktu sekitar tiga puluh menit sebelum waktu pulang khusus untuk mengunjungi situs-situs yang Anda inginkan namun di luar kebutuhan pekerjaan. Dengan begitu, selama jam kerja, Anda tetap harus menjaga konsentrasi pada topik-topik yang berhubungan dengan pekerjaan. Jika telanjur sampai di situs menarik, manfaatkan saja fasilitasbookmark dan buka kembali ketika pekerjaan usai.

Dering telepon
Menerima telepon menjadi pengalih perhatian jika setelah menutupnya, fokus Anda ikut beralih pada pekerjaan lain. Pekerjaan yang sebelumnya dikerjakan pun menjadi terlantar. Akan tetapi, tidak semua panggilan telepon harus segera dijawab, kan? Selama tidak terlalu penting, tak apa jika Anda tidak mengangkatnya. Hal sama terjadi pada pesan singkat atau messenger.  Apabila si penelepon hanya ingin mengobrol atau bertanya hal yang dapat ditunda, katakan untuk menghubungi Anda kembali pada jam makan siang atau pulang kerja.

Panggilan media sosial 
Setelah era teknologi informasi tumbuh pesat, beberapa tempat kerja menutup akses internet untuk situs-situs media sosial pada jam tertentu. Pasalnya, gangguan situs media sosial terbukti sangat berpengaruh terhadap produktivitas kerja karyawan. Apabila tempat kerja Anda tidak menutup akses tersebut, maka tugas menutup akses itu seharusnya berasal dari diri sendiri. Biasakan berdisiplin dengan menentukan jam-jam Anda boleh membuka situs tersebut, misalnya hanya ketika makan siang.

Selain jam tersebut, jangan tergoda untuk membuka situs-situs pertemanan ataupun microblogging. Apalagi bila ponsel Anda sudah terintegrasi dengan situs pertemanan, buat pengaturan agar notifikasi dimatikan selama waktu kerja.

Tergoda makanan
Semangat kerja yang terhalang rasa lapar memang mengganggu. Konsentrasi bisa buyar karena perut yang tak dapat berkompromi. Untuk menghindarinya, biasakan mengisi perut sebelum pergi bekerja, dan gunakan waktu istirahat benar-benar untuk makan siang.

Hal lain biasanya datang dari rekan kerja yang berjualan dan menjajakan barang dagangannya pada waktu kerja. Godaan untuk melihat koleksi barangnya pasti ada, belum lagi Anda membutuhkan waktu lama untuk memilih-milih barang. Bagaimana kalau membuat kesepakatan dengan rekan kerja untuk menjajakan barang dagangan sebelum atau sesudah pekerjaan usai? Dengan begitu, target pekerjaan pun akan selesai tepat waktu.

Tamu tak diundang
Klien, sales, anggota keluarga, atau teman yang datang ke tempat kerja tanpa membuat janji terlebih dahulu juga menyita cukup banyak waktu. Padahal, Anda tak tega jika menolak bertemu. Menghadapi hal yang seperti ini, lebih baik Anda katakan di awal pertemuan berapa lama Anda bisa menemuinya. Misalnya, “Saya hanya ada waktu sepuluh menit, masih ada yang harus dikerjakan.” Dengan begitu, sang tamu dapat langsung berbicara pada inti permasalahan, tanpa perlu berbasa-basi.

Gangguan temperatur
Suhu ruang kerja yang terlampau dingin atau panas dapat mengalihkan konsentrasi dari pekerjaan. Ketika ruang kerja kurang nyaman, beralih mencari tempat yang lebih sesuai biasanya menjadi pilihan. Maka ketika Anda tidak bisa mengganti temperatur ruang kerja sesuai yang Anda inginkan, akali dengan menyiapkan peralatan pribadi di meja kerja. Misalnya saja menyimpan satu buah jaket dan syal, atau jika memungkinkan, memasang kipas angin kecil di meja kerja apabila pendingin ruangan kurang memadai.

Suara bising
Diskusi rekan kerja di kubikel sebelah sangat bisa memecah konsentrasi, apalagi jika obrolan diikuti oleh lebih dari tiga orang. Meskipun kita tak berniat menyimak, suara bersahutan tersebut selalu berhasil memecah konsentrasi. Bisa-bisa tanpa disadari Anda sudah terlibat dalam perbincangan tersebut. Untuk menghindarinya, Anda bisa memasang earphone dan mendengarkan lagu-lagu yang dapat menjaga konsentrasi. Sebaliknya, jaga volume suara Anda ketika sedang berbincang atau menelepon, agar tidak mengganggu konsentrasi rekan kerja di sekitar.

3 Cara Introver Bersaing


 
    
Orang yang introver biasanya dianggap sebagai orang yang tidak akan berhasil. Hal ini disebabkan karena mereka kalah bersaing dengan orang ekstrover di dunia kerja. Lalu bagaimana si introver bisa bertahan dan bersaing dengan orang ekstrover?
Susan Cain, penulis buku Quiet: The Power of Introverts In a World That Can't Stop Talking, mengungkapkan strategi khusus agar si introver bisa bekerja secara efektif di dunia yang penuh dengan orang ekstrover.

1. Temukan pekerjaan yang tepat
"Kunci terbesar sukses berkarier untuk semua jenis kepribadian adalah menemukan peran yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan Anda," ungkap Cain. Menurut Cain, orang introver biasanya akan lebih nyaman memilih posisi yang mengharuskan mereka bekerja mandiri, atau bekerja dalam lingkungan yang tenang.

Salah satu orang introver yang berhasil sukses di dunia kerja adalah Taylor Curley, asisten laboratorium di North Carolina. Ia mengungkapkan, bagi orang introver pekerjaan yang sesuai adalah pekerjaan otak, dan bukan pekerjaan sosial.
"Bagi saya pekerjaan otak lebih baik dibanding pekerjaan sosial karena saya punya masalah kompleks untuk dipecahkan. Dalam pekerjaan, masing-masing orang ditugaskan untuk menyelesaikan masalah yang berbeda-beda. Dari pekerjaan ini, saya bisa mendapatkan waktu untuk diri sendiri, dan pekerjaan berjalan dengan lancar," tukasnya.
Hanya saja, pekerjaan seringkali mengharuskan Anda untuk bekerja dalam satu tim. Jangan menghindari pekerjaan ini, namun tentukan peran yang jelas untuk setiap anggota kelompok. Dengan demikian semua orang bisa ambil bagian dengan maksimal, termasuk si introver.

2. Memberi waktu untuk diri sendiri
Apapun jenis pekerjaan Anda, menurut Cain sangat penting untuk sesekali menjadi orang yang pendiam. Hanya saja kadar diam ini harus disiasati. Jika memang sedang merasa penat di dalam kantor, tak ada salahnya untuk menyendiri. Ini dilakukan untuk mempersiapkan diri menghadapi tantangan pekerjaan dan kemungkinan lain dalam pekerjaan.

Berikan waktu untuk beristirahat. "Pergilah ke kamar mandi, jalan-jalanlah keluar kantor sebentar, atau lakukan apa saja seorang diri agar Anda bisa me-recharge energi," sarannya.
Bagi beberapa orang, sedikit menjauh dari kantor saat makan siang bisa mengurangi beban stres dan mengisi energi dengan lebih mudah daripada hanya beristirahat di sekitar kantor. Terkadang jika dimanfaatkan dengan tepat, waktu menyendiri bisa menjadi sebuah langkah besar dan kemajuan untuk karier seseorang.
3. Tidak malu menunjukkan kemampuan
Cain mengungkapkan bahwa orang yang introver adalah orang yang gigih, rajin, dan fokus pada pekerjaan yang mereka lakukan. "Beri mereka masalah yang sulit untuk dipecahkan, pasti mereka akan bekerja lebih keras dan lebih baik daripada si ekstrover," ungkapnya.
Ia menambahkan bahwa orang introver juga memiliki keunggulan, yaitu lebih kreatif. "Bagian yang paling penting untuk kreativitas adalah kemampuan untuk mandiri dan memikirkan segalanya lebih baik dan terinci," jelasnya.
Sebuah studi di The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania juga mengungkapkan, orang introver dinilai mampu menjadi pemimpin yang baik karena mereka mampu membantu anggota timnya untuk bekerja lebih keras, rinci, dan tekun. Tak heran orang introver juga dianggap mampu mendelegasikan keberhasilan.

"Namun yang paling penting bagi setiap orang adalah mencoba untuk keluar dari zona nyaman. Cobalah untuk mulai merangkul kekuatan dan kemampuan Anda. Karena ini adalah hal penting untuk membentuk siapa Anda," sarannya.
